Daily Solo Show

17 day long exhibition marathon
Milan (2016)

17 day long exhibition marathon created at a two month residency programme during Milan Art Week & Salone del Mobile.

Kitty Maria and Alban Karsten engaged in a continuous marathon of daily build-ups and nightly openings with an opening talk at their Daily Solo Show in M^C^O, Milan. Their perpetuated loop of daily openings introduced all participating artists of the residency with a solo show, lasting for the duration of one opening.

Karsten and Maria invited fellow residents to participate and write a one-day solo show proposal. A shape-shifting exhibition space was created that was designed exclusively for the act of opening – hinged at every corner, the space could take on any desired shape, and with white walls of roller blinds that could be opened or closed partially or fully at any time.

Turning the art of exhibition making into day-to-day labor as a protocol against lethargy and an attempt to investigate the function of performance during the process of exhaustion.

Dimensions: 300 x 300 x 300 cm (exhibition space; flexible sizes)
Materials: structural timber, roller blinds, lacquer, hinges
