sculpture and performance
Sint Jansklooster (2022)
sculpture and performance flower float: metal, dahlias, papier-mache, corn and pumpkin seeds, ceramic buttons. uniforms: silk shirts, wool hats and skirts, ceramic buttons.
A two-day performance parading the service worker’s body through the Dutch Bible Belt. Invited by Polder Triennial, we participated in the local tradition of building flower floats, an emblem of communal labour, religious heritage, and rural identity. Our performance inserted the figure of the Unemployed Air Hostess into this collective ritual, bringing gestures of service and affective labour into a context shaped by discipline, visibility, and moral codes. The work explored tensions between choreography and craft.
