Life on Planet Orsimanirana

02-2021

For Life on Planet Orsimanirana, I will make an audio version of Access modes for encountering large industrial bodies. A stream of consciousness style narration and audio exploration of my meeting with a windtunnel in a company for wind sensors. The piece will make audible a selection of the non-information I gathered about the machine, what does the kill switch feel like, what does the metal body sound like when scratched, what's the use of dressing up like the object. Access modes is about the plurality of ways we can try to comprehend an object, and moves against the dominant position of 'thought' in this understanding process. It's an experiment to try and collect alternative data on this very strange looking machine, through the medium of a physical encounter. This encounter doesn't follow the narrow path of its usage towards its output power, but bypasses machine-operator relationality to perform a highly tactile and phonetic examination of the object. The work is drafted after the object theory by ecologist and philosopher Timothy Morton.

It will air on the Orsimanirana radiostation on 10:30 monday morning the 15th of March 2021. - website: www.radio-orsimanirana.com

Life on Planet Orsimanirana is an exhibition as a communal living system and a functioning cooperative physical and online radio station which invites you to immerse yourself in an every-colour primordial mud of molecular consciousness, an archive of autonomous reflections, DIY futurist narratives and a pumping funk of organic processes.” (Emanuele Braga, Amica Dall und Jerszy Seymour)"
